In the exam you may be asked to talk about your school, your favourite subjects or your attitudes towards education. You might also have to describe the educational system in Poland in a letter, or you may need to describe a school (location, facilities, class size) in a report. You may be asked how long you have been learning English and how you plan to use your English in the future. You may also be asked how you feel about language learning – what are the best methods of learning a language, etc. Education differs from country to country. In Britain, school consists of pre-school, primary school and secondary school. Apart from schools which are state supported and publicly maintained (state schools), there are also so-called “public schools” which are independent and which charge high fees for studying. Marks for different subjects are given in figures out of 10, 20 or 100; grades are usually expressed in letters, A, B, C, etc. A certificate is given for success in a particular area of study (for example the Cambridge Certificate); a diploma is awarded by colleges and a degree by universities. Universities offer two types of studies: undergraduate and postgraduate ones. Students get a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree.
