notion - pojęcie, wyobrażenie; wrażenie; zamiar

rally - zbierać, skupiać (zwłaszcza wojsko, ale też rally one’s wits - skupiać myśli)

renowned - sławny, słynny

replenish - uzupełnić; też zaopatrzyć- stąd replenishment - zaopatrzenie

warm to sb - polubić (skojarz z ciepłym uczuciem)

GRAMATYKA

Zwróć uwagę na różne zastosowania would w tym tekście:

1) If what Lord Hamilton tells me is correct, he warmed to our future queen and would trust her.

„Would” oznacza tu tyle co polskie „miałby”- podkreśla więc, że nie jesteśmy pewni tego, co mówimy.

2) But if she were to be killed, we would soon find the King of France a useful ally against the Scots.

To typowe zdanie w trybie warunkowym, tu „would” oznacza gdybanie.
