Genetically modified food is a kind of food which has been modifid in laboratories. Genes come not only from other plants but also from animals. For example, genetic engineers take genes from scorpion and transfer them to corn. In this way a new life is created.
GM food is very important for people all over the world. This discipline of science can be very helpful for us in the nearest future. Thansk to GM food we can help poor and starving people living in the Third World Countries.
GM food is cheaper, faster and plants are easier to grow. This food may potentially offer consumers and farmers a crop with more desirable properieties.
The majority of commercially available crops have an agronomic adventage like herbicide resistance. Scientist can change the genetical structure of plant and eliminated genes which evoke the allergy. We can also apply these techniques to make products more resistant to pests. Thanks to this we can collect more harvests due to the fact that less plants can be eaten by pests. Appearance GM crops contributed to significantly reduce greenhouse gase emission from agricultural farms. It was a result of decreased fuel consumption and additional soil carbon.
Growth this discipline of science give more posts for people. Technology before all the time is growing.
GM food has got f course some disadvantages too. Biotechnology companies make pesticides which make the plants resistant to one pest but no for others.Farmers want to collect more harvest and they are buying other pesticides which make the plants resisant to other kind of pests. Later we have to eat very toxic products which can cause a lot of diseases. it can be very dangerous for our health. We do not know what happen later with our body, and for example with eyesight.
Cruel experiments on animal are not ethical. Many people do not consent to that experiments and they protest. Scientist can not control the GM creatures. the effects of genetic engineering on the natural world may be disastrous. The new life forms have no natural habitat. They will have to find one, fight for one or kill for one. It may b your land, or you that they kill.
I think that GM food will be very dangeous, if we can not control it. Even a small mistake can cause a great ecological tragedy. On the other hand, GM food will save many people in the future.
